This year has gone by much faster than I could ever imagine. There is a lot I have learned this year in english- it is one of my favorite classes. Toward the end of the year I started caring more about my grade and raised it by quite a bit. All the assignments we did this year were pretty easy. My favorite though was the map of Odyseous' journey. It was fun and relaxing because I love to color! My least favorite assignment was probably all the five part paragraphs and then having to pick one and edit it. I get how to do five part paragraphs so it was a little boring for me.
Last year in english I definatly didn't learn anything, in fact, i think i might have gotten a little bit dumber. But this year made up for it. Thank you Mrs. Gilman for being a great teacher! I'm not trying to suck up but you really make class fun, even though you seem to yell instead of talk but that's only because our class is so loud. I hope next year in english is as good at this one.

O Brother, Where Art Thou
This movie so far has been decent. I can see how it relates to the Odyssey pretty well. One of my favorite parts was when George robs the bank and tells everyone his name, like in the Odyssey when Odysseus tells the cyclops his name and where he lives. It wasn't that funny but it made me kind of laugh because of how dumb people can be! Also, when he ran over the cows- that was pretty random as well. It made me laugh when he ran over that one cow because they didn't even think anything of it and just kept driving along.

Epic Simile
After i've been in my french class for five minutes, I feel like a little kid stuck in a room with nothing to do, just sitting there, with plain white walls all around me, wishing to get out somehow.

Of Mice and Men: Project
So i haven't really started yet... but i am going to this upcoming weekend. I am doing a powerpoint on the world fair. I think it will take me a few days, so it won't be too difficult.
I don't think there will be any setbacks because I am pretty good at making powerpoints and such. Though, I have physical therapy a lot, that won't really have any impact on the project. If I stay with my schedule of working on it, it should be done with plenty of time to spare.

Romeo and Juliet, what a book. I think act five, scene three was the best part because it was action packed, tons of ironic things happened. Well, we all knew that Romeo and Juliet would die in the end, but who knew Lady Montague would? I think it's weird how they bring her back up into the book again since she hadn't been mentioned in a long time. Though, my favorite part of the book is when Romeo and Juliet first meet, and in that part most everyone is happy. After that, everything just seems to go downhill.
Yes, this play has had an influence on pop culture. When a love movie or book comes out, people can always relate it to Romeo and Juliet. I think that people have used bits and peices from the play to write their own story as well. Everybody knows who Romeo and Juliet are, I don't see how you couldn't. I enjoyed this book. It was definatly better reading it in class, i could understand it a lot better than if i had to take it home and figure out what it means by myself.

Romeo and Juliet: Video
I think this relates to Romeo and Juliet because I can picture the mom being Juliet and the dad being Paris (if they ever got married) . Like he is all happy and she is acting like she doesn't want to be with him, because she really wishes she was with Romeo. (: Haha, I love this video.

Romeo and Juliet: Photo
This is a picture of my friend Sarah and her boyfriend, and i did actually take this. It was last year at one of our volleyball tournaments. This relates to Romeo and Juliet because they are in a relationship. Also, I can just picture Romeo with his arm around Juliet sitting out in her garden. Hahaa this is such a bad blog.

Romeo and Juliet: Act Two
One thing that was interesting to me was when Mercutio and Romeo were making fun of the nurse. I thought it was quite funny, actually. I chose this because this is one of the scenes I have read since I've been gone from school. Mercutio says "Farewell, ancient lady. Farewell, lady, lady, lady" to the nurse. I'm not sure why, but it made me laugh. I guess I can relate to this because I tend to be sarcastic and make jokes about people.
I don't think this will effect the future of the book, since it wasn't anything that big. Though, if I was Mercutio I wouldn't have probably said that because I know not to be disrespectful to people, and the comment he made was mean. Though, I would have most likely been thinking he same in my head. (:

Characters in Romeo and Juliet
The character I choose to write about is Romeo. Based on his words and actions, I can definatly say he is a dramatic person. He tends to overexagerate often as well. In my mind I always picture Romeo as a brunette, tall, handsome person. (: If I were to meet him in real life, I think that he would be a fun person to hang out with. Most of the book he has been depressed, but I bet now he met Juliet, that will all change.
I know a few people like Romeo. I would say the most like him is my little sister (well only by two years). She is so dramatic all the time, it's kind of annoying actually. Though, maybe it's just because i'm with her everyday. My mom took her phone away today and she freaked out and acted like she was going to die without it, and now she's all depressed. Overdramatic much? That's what kind of made me compare her to Romeo.

Romeo and Juliet: Premonitions
Most everyday, I dream as I sleep. That I can remember, my dream has only come true once. So, about three years ago I had this cockateil bird named Sunny. She belonged to my sister actually. Everyone in my family adored her, but yet I thought she was the most annoying thing ever. And one night I had this dream... I dreamed that she had died and truthfully, I was happy about it (she hated me anyways). My whole family was sad but I was secretly celebrating, don't ask me why I had a strong hate for this bird, I wouldn't know the answer.
The next morning I was trying to talk to my mom, but Sunny was squawking and my mom was paying more attention to the bird. So I finally just yelled "gosh I wish you would just die!" (to the bird) because life was so wonderful in my dream. By the way, my mom made me apologize before she would take me to school, it was dumb. But anyways, I got home from school and Sunny had died. I guess I kind of felt bad because everyone else was so devastated. I didn't act on this because one, I wanted her to die and two, i didn't know my dream would come true! I'm not a horrible person and wish death upon people, you would just have to had met this bird...really.

Shakespearean Stories.
The movie I think of when I think of love triangles, mistaken identity, and star crossed lovers is She's the Man. I know it's one of the examples, but it really is what I thought of first! In this movie, Viola disguises herself as her brother Sebastian while he is in London, so she can play on the boys soccer team at his new school Illyria. She falls in love with her room mate Duke, who loves Olivia, who loves Viola. But in the end Duke finds out "Sebastian" is really Viola and he falls in love with her.
This movie is based off the play the Twenth Night by William Shakespear. I'm pretty sure a lot of movies these days are based off Shakespears plays because they were brilliant. People loved them, and I think people figure if they made them more modern, they would be a hit. It is a good idea, and the movies are good.

Shakespeare
When first watching A Midsummer Night's Dream, my thoughts were "what the heck are they even talking about?" But now I can say I can mostly understand what they are saying. However, there are some phrases they say that still confuse me. I think Shakespeare must have been amazing, I mean, I could not write a whole movie with rhyme and meter like he did, even if I tried my hardest. I like the movie so far, I like the fairies and their wonderful costumes. The plot does tend to confuse me though, all the love triangles are hard to keep up with. But all in all it's good.
Romeo and Juliet is a classic story, though I don't truely know much about it. I mean, like everyone else, i've heard about the story from movies or songs, but i wouldnt be able to tell you the plot or anything. All I could tell you is they fall in love, and someone dies, I can't exactly remember who though. I'm excited to read it aloud as a play, I think that it will be fun. A lot better than simply reading it out of a book. I'm most likely not as excited as you, but I am looking forward to it.

The Worst Part In Animal Farm
I would have to say the part where Boxer gets sent to the glue factory is the saddest part in the book. It makes me quite sad actually. He was the hardest worker on the farm. In fact, if he had not put in as much work and he had, the farm wouldn't have been able to keep up the crops and such.
It broke my heart when all the animals started to panic. Boxer kept on working through all his pain and didn't complain once. I think that all the animals (other than the pigs of course) looked up to him and his loyalty. Honestly. I'm mad he died. Napolean is dumb.

Animal Farm
"Animal Farm is the worst book ever", I heard coming from my friends. Though, I find it quite interesting. It makes me excited, which sounds kind of weird but I love how this book is a parody of the Russian Revolution. It makes facts about the revolution a lot easier to remember. Also, I enjoy reading fables and since this is one, it makes it more fun to read.
I am always stoked when I get a new book to read, and this one definatly hasn't let me down so far. It's kind of predictable since there is forshadowing at least every chapter if not more. But I still like it, irony is kind of lame. So yes, I really do like this book.

Winter Break
Gross. That was one word to describe the colors of my room; and worst of all, they didn't match. When I first decided to paint my room blue, green and purple, I had something different in mind than what my aunt painted on my walls, (dark lime green, pastel blue and purple). After Christmas day when i had received all my presents, I had some money so I thought, "Why not paint my room?" Though, my parents or aunt would not be helping me this time. Apparently they "all had things more important to do". I think it was just because they hate painting. A couple of days later, I went to the store to look for paint.
When I got to Lowe's I was overwhelmed by all of the colors. My friend Ashley had come with my dad and I since she offered to help me paint. I was thrilled. I had never painted a room before, but I just figured it would be an easy job. Finally, I picked out a dark green color. Ashley thought I was crazy, but I was convinced it would look good in my room. So we headed home to start painting.
Painting the primer on the walls wasn't all that bad. Ashley and I painted that quite quickly and took a break while it was drying. After it was done, I started on the green. That was when the problems started. Ashley was having fun on my Wii while I was slaving away in my room. I thought I was doing an okay job when my little sister barged through the doors only to kill my mood. "Nice floor", she snickered. I looked down and half my carpet was green. Considering my carpet is white, I started to panic and screamed, "ASHLEY!!"
Right as I said her name, she came running through my doors and started laughing. I guess painting isn't so easy after all! We then decided if we put white paint on the green paint maybe it would blend in with the carpet. So we spend the next hour trying to make the green paint look less noticable before my parents got home. Surprisingly, it did work. My room isn't looking so "hot" at the moment. My ceiling is about as green as my carpet was. I mean, I knew I was never artistic but I didn't know how art skilled mental i could get! I suppose I do now. I don't think I'll go near paint for a while now.
